In the two short years of his reign,the King has carried a heavy load and one remembers with deep feeling andgratitude his New Years rnessage in1937 — I send to all the peoples ofthe Empire my warmest wishes for theirwelfare and happiness. I realize to thefull the responsibilities of my noble heri-tage. Throughout my life it will be myconstant endeavour to strengthen thatfoundation of mutual trust and affectionon which the relat-ions between the Sov-ereign and the Peoples of the Empire sohappily rest. I ask your help towards thefulfilment of this purpose and I know Ido not ask in vain. Every member of tht CanadianNurses Association from the Atlanticto the Pacific will join most sincerelyin this great national welcome and in the MAY, 1939
