| Descripción |
Nederlands: Stoel van een hoofdman. Elke Akan hoofdman, van hoog tot laag, bezit een of meer van deze stoelen. Ze staan bekend als asimpim, wat zoveel betekent als ‘ik ben standvastig’, wat op de stoel kan slaan, maar ook op de hoofdman zelf. De asimpim heeft een praktische en ceremoniele functie, en geen spirituele zoals de klassieke Akan stool. De vorm gaat terug op een Europees prototype uit het midden van de 17e eeuw, dat wel bekend staat als 'farthingale', 'upholsterers chair' of 'imbrauders chair'. Decoraties worden aangebracht met koperen nagels. Boven op de stoel zijn twee versieringen aangebracht, ntuatire. Deze zouden de klauwen van een adelaar symboliseren. |
