Descripción

English: Group photo depicting the commanders of "Selbstschutz Westpreussen" – paramilitary formation composed of members of the German minority in pre-war Poland. Between September 1939 and April 1940 Selbstschutz - together with other Nazi-German formations - murdered tens of thousands of Poles in Pomerania.

In the first row stand:
SS-Sturmbannführer Josef Meier – chief of the Selbstschutz’s inspectorate in Starogard Gdański, known as "Bloody Meier" (first from the left);
SS-Standartenführer Heinrich Mocek – chief of the Selbstschutz’s inspectorate in Chojnice (second from the left);
SS-Obersturmbannführer Erich Spaarmann - chief of the Selbstschutz’s inspectorate in Bydgoszcz to November 1939(third from the left).

In the second row stand:
Unidentified SS officer (first from the left);
SS-Obersturmbannführer dr Hans Kölzow – chief of the Selbstschutz’s inspectorate in Inowrocław (second from the left);
SS-Oberführer Ludolf-Hermann von Alvensleben – leader of "Selbstschutz Westpreussen" (third from the left);
SS-Standartenführer Ludolf Jacob von Alvensleben – chief of the Selbstschutz’s inspectorate in Płutowo (fourth from the left);
SS-Sturmbannführer Christian Schnug – chief of the Selbstschutz’s inspectorate in Bydgoszcz since December 1939 (fifth from the left).

During the second world war this photo was placed in so-called "Album of fame of Selbstschutz" (known also as "Alvensleben Album"). After the end of war this album was found and taken over by the Polish authorities. It is now in the archives of the Commission for the Investigation of Nazi Crimes in Poland.

Polski: Grupowe zdjęcie dowódców niemieckiego Selbstschutzu – paramilitarnej formacji złożonej z przedstawicieli niemieckiej mniejszości narodowej, zamieszkującej przedwojenne terytorium Rzeczypospolitej. Między wrześniem 1939, a kwietniem 1940 Selbstschutz wraz z innymi niemieckimi formacjami zamordował na Pomorzu kilkadziesiąt tysięcy Polaków.

W pierwszym rzędzie stoją:
SS-Sturmbannführer Josef Meier – szef inspektoratu Selbstschutzu w Starogardzie Gdańskim, znany jako "Krwawy Meier" (pierwszy z lewej);
SS-Standartenführer Heinrich Mocek – szef inspektoratu Selbstschutzu w Chojnicach (drugi z lewej);
SS-Obersturmbannführer Erich Spaarmann – do listopada 1939 szef inspektoratu Selbstschutzu w Bydgoszczy (trzeci z lewej).

W drugim rzędzie stoją:
Niezidentyfikowany oficer SS (pierwszy z lewej);
SS-Obersturmbannführer dr Hans Kölzow – szef inspektoratu Selbstschutzu w Inowrocławiu (drugi z lewej);
SS-Oberführer Ludolf-Hermann von Alvensleben – dowódca "Selbstschutz Westpreussen" (trzeci z lewej);
SS-Standartenführer Ludolf Jacob von Alvensleben – szef inspektoratu Selbstschutzu w Płutowie (czwarty z lewej);
SS-Sturmbannführer Christian Schnug – od grudnia 1939 szef inspektoratu Selbstschutzu w Bydgoszczy (piąty z lewej).

Zdjęcie jest elementem tzw. „Albumu chwały Selbstschutzu” (znanego także jako album Alvenslebena), odnalezionego po wojnie przez polskie władze. Zdjęcie pochodzi z archiwum Głównej Komisji Badania Zbrodni Hitlerowskich w Polsce.
