La segunda temporada de The Originals fue creada por Julie Plec basada en los personajes presentados en The Vampire Diaries, creada por Kevin Williamson, basada en la serie de libros del mismo nombre escrita por L. J. Smith. Es protagonizada por Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin y Charles Michael Davis y fue estrenada el 6 de octubre de 2014.[1]
Argumento[editar]
Klaus y Hayley deben mantener la farsa de la muerte de su hija mientras que, con la ayuda de Elijah, intentan retomar el control del barrio francés que les fue arrebatado por Francesca y su alianza con las brujas. Tras la muerte de Francesca, los lobos continúan bajo las órdenes de Esther, quien ha poseído el cuerpo de Cassie y traído de vuelta a Finn y Kol para ayudarla en su plan de purificar al resto de sus hijos para tener un nuevo comienzo como familia. Mientras tanto, Marcel intenta crear un nuevo ejército de vampiros para tomar la ciudad y Davina busca la manera de crear un hechizo que le permita separar a Marcel y Josh del linaje de Klaus para así poder utilizar a Mikael para asesinarlo. Hayley debe casarse con Jackson para pasarles a la manada su poder de híbrido de controlar la transformación y regresa Freya, la hermana mayor de los Mikaelson, que fue entregada obligatoriamente por Esther a su hermana mayor Dalhia, que se aprovecha del poder de Freya para ser más poderosa. Freya y Dalhia están unidas por un hechizo de sueño que las hace despertar durante un año para volver a dormir durante 100 años más, ahora están despiertas y Freya ayuda a sus hermanos ganándose su confianza ayudándoles a salvar a Hope, a quien Dalhia quiere llevarse para ser más poderosa.

El 13 de febrero de 2014, The CW anunció que renovaría la serie para una segunda temporada.
Joseph Morgan, Phoebe Tonkin, Danielle Campbell, así como el director Jeffrey Hunt anunciaron que los tres primeros episodios de la segunda temporada comenzaría a filmarse inmediatamente después de terminar la primera temporada.[48][49]
Casting[editar]
El 7 de mayo de 2014 se confirmó que Daniel Sharman fue contratado para interpretar a Kaleb, un brujo con un oscuro pasado al que no le agradan los Originales.[50] El 30 de mayo de 2014, fue confirmado el regreso de Nathaniel Buzolic en un flashback.[51] El 13 de agosto de 2014 fue anunciada la incorporación de Colin Woodell como Aiden, un hombre lobo.[52]
El 18 de noviembre de 2014 se dio a conocer que Yusuf Gatewood fue promovido al elenco principal de la serie.[53]
